Enjoy a superb three day weekend break to the Highlands of Scotland at this most beautiful time of year with purple heather carpeting the mountains and autumn leaves turning to a burnished gold – Travel is over the scenic Highland line to Inverness as we cross impressive bridges with views of cascading waterfalls and tranquil lochs on this memorable tour plus a return journey over the spectacular and remote route to Kyle of Lochalsh with an off train excursion included to the magnificent Eilean Donan Castle. Overnight accommodation will be in quality 4 star hotels in Inverness.

Saturday:
Following departure from your local station our train travels north through the Vale of York and after a brief stop in Newcastle we take the beautiful coastal route passing Lindisfarne and through Edinburgh before crossing the iconic Forth Bridge and joining the Highland line which takes us toward Perth and Pitlochry – then over the highest railway summit in Britain at Druimuachdar and the Cairngorm National Park to Inverness with an arrival at approx 20.50.

Sunday:
Our train departs Inverness at approx 09.30 for one of the ‘Great Railway Journeys of the World’ - the spectacular and scenic route to Kyle of Lochalsh. After travelling over the high plateau at Achnasheen, where great herds of wild deer roam, we descend down to sea level and around the shore of beautiful Loch Carron to our first stop at the pretty village of Plockton where you may choose to spend the afternoon - tucked away off the Loch and surrounded by jewels of islets and promontories the village consists of a line of houses and eateries along the shore, their bright gardens filled with flowers and palm trees - Alternatively, remain on board our train as we continue to Kyle of Lochalsh, with its views across to the Isle of Skye, for a three hour break where road coaches will take us on the short journey to one of the most iconic images of Scotland – the fairytale ‘Eilean Donan Castle’ situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet and surrounded by majestic scenery; time will be available for a stroll around the ramparts and photographs. Our train returns in the late afternoon retracing our scenic outward journey to Inverness.

Monday:
Departing from Inverness around 09.00 returning over the Highland line and Slochd Summit with magnificent views of the Cairngorm Mountains we pass through the ski centre of Aviemore and onward to the impressive Pass of Killiecrankie, Perth and Stirling.

Pullman Class:
Accommodation is in ‘luxury’ rooms at the fabulous four star Kingsmills Hotel situated just outside Inverness (twin or double rooms only). Scottish Breakfast (Sun & Mon) and four course dinner (Sun only) is included, with other meals taken on the train. Seating is in Pullman style carriages and included in the meal service on board the train is bucks fizz with breakfast, champagne and quarter bottle of house wine served with 3 or 4 course lunches or dinners.

Premier Class:
Accommodation is in ‘classic’ rooms at the four star Kingsmills Hotel situated just outside Inverness (twin or double rooms only). Scottish Breakfast (Sun & Mon) and four course dinner (Sun only) is included, with other meals taken on the train.

First Class:
Accommodation is in ‘standard’ rooms at the newly refurbished four star Mercure Hotel in Inverness town centre. Breakfast (Sun & Mon) and dinner (Sat & Sun) is included. A Buffet Bar is available on the train for the sale of drinks, sandwiches and light snacks.

Transfers:
The Mercure Hotel is within walking distance of the station but road coach transfers are included for the Kingsmills Hotel.

On Train Meals: (Premier and Pullman only)
Saturday: Full English breakfast, light Luncheon and three course Dinner
Sunday: Light Luncheon and High Tea
Monday: Four course ‘Taste of Scotland’ Luncheon and Afternoon Tea

Luggage:
Guests are responsible for the conveyance of their own luggage between the train and hotels and as such it is advisable not to ‘overload’ one and to ensure cases are easily manageable. These should be stored between the seats or on luggage racks.

Insurance:
We strongly advise that you have travel insurance when booking any UK holiday, for your own protection and peace of mind, in case you have to unexpectedly cancel your booking within the 40 day prior to departure non refundable period. We are regrettably unable to arrange this for you.

Mobility:
This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with impaired mobility as platforms at some remote stations in Scotland are shorter than our train, low or accessible only by a footbridge. There is no disabled or wheelchair access into Eilean Donan Castle or the transfer coaches.

A limited number of single rooms are available in First Class only at a supplement of £70 per person in the Mercure Hotel.
We regret there is no single room availability in Pullman or Premier dining at the Kingsmills Hotel.

Guaranteed window tables for 2 are available at a supplement of £50 per person in 1st class, Premier Dining & Pullman Dining.

A deposit of £50 per person will secure your booking with the balance of payment due 40 days prior to the tour.

Premier and Pullman Dining is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years.
