This very special and unique tour on board ‘The Statesman’ land cruise train commences from local stations in the East Midlands and offers a visit to two historic south west destinations which are both famous for their spectacular Christmas Markets and visitor attractions, so the choice is yours in which you choose to spend the afternoon but please remember it is not possible to visit both.

Bath Spa - the beautiful Somerset city of Georgian elegance has attracted visitors since Roman times and is fabulously decorated for the festive season and there should be around three hours to brows at leisure and discover one of the largest Christmas Markets in Britain with over 120 chalet style stalls offer quality products and brilliant gift ideas. The famous Bath Abbey and Roman Baths provide an amazing backdrop to the festive event offering seasonal shopping, fine food and family fun with stalls showcasing the talents of retailers from Britain and the Continent. Other highlights include the popular carol concert in the Abbey, the Pump Rooms, Carriage Museum, Queen Square and Royal Crescent.

Salisbury – Known as ‘the city in the countryside’, this pretty cathedral city is surrounded by a landscape so quintessentially English it’s almost too good to be true and we have around four hours to discover it’s unique charms. Dating back to the 13th century it is home to one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the country with its spire being the tallest in Britain. The library is home to the Magna Carta and the streets contain many historic timbered buildings which will be aglow with festive lights. The Christmas Market consists of over 100 stalls and sits on a backdrop of the historic Guildhall selling locally produced gifts, food and drink along with the seasonal continental favourites of Gluhwein, Bratwurst, Stollen and Lebkuchen.
